Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Elise Neal moved to New York to pursue her dreams of performing on stage in choreographed musicals. Her experience in dance and movement led her to easily make the transition to working in front of the camera first in commercials, then quickly landing her first acting role in the soap opera "Loving" for ABC.
Elise has starred alongside superstars like Helen Mirren, Chris Tucker, Oscar nominee Terrence Howard, and Oscar winner Adrien Brody. And worked with notable directors Taylor Hackford, John Singleton, Brian De Palma and Craig Brewer.
Most recently Elise has been apart of the new media explosion, starring in the micro-series "My Manny" for TBS.com, which has aired for 4 seasons online as well as on the network. She plays a recently widowed mother trying to get back into the dating world. Elise is also breaking into reality television as one of the stars of a new show for 51 Minds and VH1, to highlight the lives of Black Women in Hollywood. Still in demand for film in 2010, Ms. Neal just wrapped a role in the film "Gun" written and co-produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Neal's feature credits include "Love Ranch" with Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci, her starring role in "Rosewood", her 1st role, "Money Talks, "Scream 2" as Neve Campbell's roommate and target of the copycat killer, "Paid in Full", "Mission to Mars" and "Restaurant" starring opposite Adrian Brody. Her work in Television includes many guest starring appearances, and 4 series regular roles in NBC’s "Seaquest DSV", ABC/UPN’s "The Hughleys", UPN/CW’s"All of Us" and Fox’s "Kville".
Elise has 6 NAACP nominations that include nods in film and television roles. Her awards also include a Hot in Hollywood award for "Hustle and Flow" as well as the Audience award in the prominent Sundance film festival in 2005 for "Hustle and Flow". She also holds an African American Women in Cinema Trailblazer award.
As evident in her varied portrayals of the good southern wife Yvette in the Oscar winning film "Hustle and Flow", to the screaming sidekick in the cult horror classic "Scream 2,” and her long list of credits, Elise Neal is a tour de force actress of incredible range with continued success in her future.
